Val and Daniel’s Cadillac Mountain Wedding | Acadia National Park

Val and Daniel’s wedding was epic for some many reasons. Firstly, they hiked up Cadillac Mountain in their wedding garb to get to their ceremony. It was 100% them, 100% personal, and 100% badass. Not only where there servers thunderstorm warnings and an occasional spatter of rain, these two were unfazed and down for it all. They had an image of what their wedding day would be like, and they fully trusted it would work perfectly. They couldn’t have been more right.

From the minute we (my amazing husband and friend of Daniels was able to be a rockstar second shooter with me) met Val and Daniel at the base of the South Ridge Trail I had butterflies in my stomach. Smiles from ear to ear, it was so obvious and glorious to witness the stoke these two had to hike Cadillac Mountain and get married! They rolled up in their matching Solomon’s and Garmin watches, ready for the biggest adventure of their lives, marriage.

We caught the start of their trek, and left them off to hike the mountain together, an intimate time they wanted to share with just each other.

As they neared the top, we were able to find them again (thank you Garmin tracking) and capture their smiles as the rolled up to the summit, totally unphased at the intense hike they just did. Val’s parents, brother and sister were waiting at the top with open arms as the two arrived for their ceremony overlooking the stormy skies in the distance.

We found a quiet corner for their ceremony overlooking Bar Harbor, the vast islands, and the storm in the distance. It was dreamy, intimate, and it felt 100% right. There were tears, laughter, and the occasional cheer from passerby’s as they congratulated the newly married couple.

After their ceremony and some amazing photos, we all headed to the parking lot for a picnic of home made lobster rolls, potato salad, and their cake brought all the way from Rhode Island. Val and Daniel’s wedding was a reminder that you really can do whatever you want on your wedding day.

After their parking lot picnic full of lobster and cake, Van and Daniel suited up again for their hike down Cadillac. Headlamps on and smiles from ear to ear, they were stoked for the adventure down, just the two of them.

To say it was the perfect day would be an understatement. It will always remain an example that you can truly create the best day of your life, and spend it however you please.
